The Blog That Can Be Googled

First time overclocking

First time attempting to overclock in my life, quite happy with the results I’m getting althought its still a little below expectations. Going to try continue bringing down the voltage to hopefully reduce heat production

Would have liked to reach bus speed 333MHz but then apparently CPU not being co-operative beyond 323 unless I go and increase voltage like mad. Currently full load temperatures can go up to 73 degrees or more which is a little higher than what I like it to be.

Might as Well

A lot of blogs have been updated recently, and I haven’t blogged for quite a while, so I tot I might as well give a slight update on what’s been going on.

Well from where we left off…….actually I can’t really remember where we left off, but I’ll see what I can rememebr.

1. Went to Canberra for a while during the break. Bunked at edmond’s place. Canberra was small, and quiet. Life could be really dull living there.Althought given my always stay at home in front of computer attitude I think it might have been okay for me, except for maybe very limited choice of food. Went and checked out the floraide flower festival, lots of flowers but I particularly liked petting zoo more. You’d probably figure petting zoo mostly filled with 5 years olds with the parents, but what the hell, animals are animals, cute and furry, way better than flowers.

2. New computer proved to be far more distracting than expected. As of now I’ve completed quite a few new high-end games including the Crysis and Crysis Warhead, Brothers in Arms and Assassin’s Creed. Gotta admit I’m loving the Ubisoft more and more these days. Been overspending hours on games and if this keeps up i fear history might repeat itself. History as in the aprt where I failed the last exam of the year. Hoping to snap out of it while writing this post. Probably would have been more convincing if I listed more games I’ve wasted my time on. On second thought I’ll list list them out, for my sake. Need for Speed Carbon (didn’t finish but still wasted quite big amount of time playing through 65% of the game), Timeshift( played jsut a little bit so not that significant) and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent( told you i lovin Ubisoft). Most upsetting fact was the game Spore by Maxis EA which proved to be the crappiest game ever made. totally lousy and way below expectations, can’t help but emphasise this but just seriously don’t bother playing the game. Red Alert 3 is coming end of October and exams starting mid November and I know I won’t be able to resist because there’s gonna be George Takei from Heroes, Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy and Autumn Reeser from O.C. and many more interesting casts in the game, “somebody save me!!!”

3. Games are not the only distractions that came along in September, September also marked the return of all the long lost TV series.  Smallville, Prison Break, Grey’s, House, Numb3rs, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Private practice, Ugly Betty and Terminator. Fortunately Lost is only coming out Next year. Plots for the new seasons were goodfor a few, but some were getting a little out of hand, Heroes especially, plot is spinning around so much hard to grasp who is good and who is bad now.

4. Games and TV series are taking over my life, but anime seems to be decreasing, I guess anime still in the end was jsut a replacement for the lack of game playing ability and tv series availability. Cause, now that those 2 are taking over, even when i have 5 new anime’s in my hard drive now, not really making much effort to watch them anymore, good or bad thing? Don’t think it really matters cause either way time is still wasted in the end. Damn it!!

5. Neuro is crap, seriously so crap, this term every week got new anatomy to learn, and I first anatomy class stuff still cannot rememebr properly yet. then all following anatomy always linked to previous classes, so after 4 anatomy classess now I’m totally lost. Stupid brain with its stupid so many functions that make us so intelligent that we have to study ourselves. I’m not the type of person that likes to rememeber, biochem and physio seemed a lot better since at least there’s a series of event and with logic and common sense you could piece together a negative or positive feedback mechanism and stuff but anatomy is just basically just rememebring 1 piece after another, cannot function!!!

6. Went for a Transcranial Magnetic Stimuations medical trial. Basically it sends magnetic pulses in a aprticular part of your brain with the intention of inprving memory function. I don’t really know what the trial is trying to prove or research but basically what I had to do as a volunteer was get my brain tapped with magnetic pulses for 7 sessions, each of which came with a 20 dollar reimbursement. So by end of the day had 140 dollars in hand, waahahaha

7. I bought a new 5.1 set of speakers for my new comp not long ago as well. I ordered from betterit.com ordered it at the beginning of the holidays and it only arrived at the end of the holiday, which is rather long considering all my other online purchases form itestate and skycomp took only 1 or 2 days. But in the end it was well worht it. Why? Cause when the 5.1 speakers came, apparently betterit somehow made a mistake. What mistake? they sent me 2 sets of the 5.1 speakers that I bought. so basically I got 2 for the price of 1. so basically now me trying to sell the extra set of speaker so that I essentially got my speakers for free. wahahahaa.

8. this post is turning out to be a longer one that expected, but I guess that’s what you get when you haven’t blogged for over a month.  I wanted to take this opportunity to send my appreciation to Ng Jia Ren for his invention of the “Toot” word. It has been probably about 7 years since it came about from our class in form 2 where we used it to “politely” describe “impolite” words. and 7 years down the road I can see the widespread use of this word in many blogs and speeches of our friends. I can’t be totally sure that they all originated from him or not but I’m pretty sure nobody who has ever came in contact with our “toot” community would understand what it meant. So thanks Jia Ren( thought you’re probably not gonna read this anyway)

9. Totally psyched about going home, althought going home this time’s probbaly gonna rather miserable even if I didn’t fial this coming exam. Cause when i return to sydney i’ll be facing this major exam where I’ll be tested on stuff I’ve learnt over the pass 2  years and given my grades over the past 2 years, its gonna be rather tough on me. but nonetheless going home would still be better cause back there can once again return to overspending lifestyle and DRIVING….hee hee. Oh but then bro already got license now so might have to negotiate who gets car……..hmm……….

10. 640GB hard disk is handling pretty well so far with 290 GB left to spare. pretty happy about that. new comp seems to have sparked my ridiculous interest in upgrading comp equipment. So much so taht I’m considering an upgrade to Intel’s new upcoming Core i7 next year. Damn it my mind’s filled with so many other stuff I’m hardly stopping to realise the sentence “You are so gonna fail your final exam” constantly blinking like an alarm in my head over the past month.

10 points updated, I think its pretty long and some ppl will probably complain again, but I guess its my style, “Long or Nothing”, just “take it and go”

P.S. if you guys haven’t watched Russel Peters: Red White and Brown you should totally check it out.
