It wasn’t so exciting actually
Well today wasn’t really special in my opinion, although quite some exciting stuff happened as well. Basically Shalom organized some Sydney scavenger hunt. We were supposed to go around Sydney doing several activities on the way and take photos as proof. Some of the stuff we did included walking in a pool in the garden, obtaining a badge from a MacDonald worker, put on 10 different types of perfumes(yeah I did that one) and loads of other really weird stuff that you’d normally be super embarrassed to do. One of the most interesting one of all was when we were supposed to shop for an interesting item. We looked around Oxford Street (basically this is where you’d find the most interesting items cause its famous for all its unusual sex items, I’m talking handcuffs, stilettos, that whip thingy and more other stuff I don’t really know how it works.), so what we found there in the end was way cool. One of the girls in our group found a Masturbation Kit!! At first glance it wasn’t really anything special really cause it’s basically just a glove and a packet of lubricant (damn feels so awkward writing stuff like this.), but then when you turn the package around, at the back they’ve got this bulls eye where the closer you get to the target the higher your grads are (ranks something from baby to stud to professional or something like that), its got a target!!! Damn!!
Then it just so happens that one of our hostel mate (Hassan) was hospitalized, so the committee of the scavenger hunt decided that we should give the interesting item as a get well gift to Hassan. Hassan’s first reaction to this, “I’m going to hang this (the target) on my room wall, and what’s even more amusing was that other teams had also bought him penis soap (damn this does feel unusually awkward)!!!!And coolest part was, the guy’s mum was just sitting beside him the whole time. Like, WTF!!!!!
Well that basically the interesting part, scavenger hunt got quite boring after that cause people were all really tired from carrying their packages around (oh yeah forgot to mention, before the scavenger hunt started, every team had a particular item to carry, items includes stuff like: 5kg of sand for the team/2 large boards for the team/2 bottles of 2.5 liter bottles for the team/1 brick for each team member, we got the bricks).
Basically that was my day lah. After the masturbation kit nothing too exciting anymore.
Oh yes I wanted to mention something, today I’ve got an unusual sms from a person (guy girl not sure yet) named Ching Yap who apparently is also from UNSW and doing medicine. What confuses me is that Ching Yap claims that he/she managed to find my blog by simply googling “med UNSW”. Ching Yap if you’re reading this, I just want you to know that I googled the same thing and I found nothing in the first 100 search results. So I think you owe me some explanation there. No offence intended, always happy to meet more UNSW med people.
Opera House Breakfast
Today there was a once in a lifetime event. First up in the agenda for the morning was a Formal Sunrise breakfast at the Sydney Opera House. Seniors said this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, cause they’ve never had this event in previous years. This was all thanks to a hostel mate named BJ who says that his dad knew some people who worked at the opera house and he pulled a few strings to let us in. And it was most likely the others years will not have such a lucky break anymore.
So everyone woke up super early like around 6am. By 6:30am everyone had gotten ready, boys were all in their tux and suits and girls were in their nice dresses (although I personally have to say, boys all looked much nicer). So the whole group of Shalom students went and took a bus down to Circular Quay, it was so early that day Circular Quay had hardly anyone except for some joggers. When we reached the opera house, everyone began to organize photo sessions because the view was so nice and the people all also looked so nice, and furthermore BJ had to go and tell his dad that we were here.
Finally when everyone finished and got bored with photos already. And all of a sudden, BJ turns up wearing a jogging T-shirt, shorts and sport shoes shouting to us “Hey guys its time for some aerobics!” Like, WHAT THE F**K!!! After that nobody was really convinced that BJ was lying because it sounded very unlikely that some of the seniors were also clueless, but as it turns out, BJ acted solo and pranked all of us, and it’d probably be one of the greatest one in Shalom history. So yeah, I dressed up for nothing, but just to be curious, did the beginning of this blog have you convinced?
But it wasn’t all wasted; we still had breakfast at Sydney Harbor, just not in the Opera House. Had pancakes at a cool restaurant nearby, I’m pretty sure it’s a cool restaurant cause the breakfast costs like 14 bucks!! Furthermore because of this particular joke many of the seniors were getting quite pissed at it and are already scheming some payback for BJ. Don’t think BJ will be sleeping too well these days. Heh.
Rest of the day was quite boring, I spent of my day just watching episode after episode of grey’s anatomy, sadly to say I still can’t beat you Sien, the networks got until episode 12 of season 3 only, darn it.
I wish I could show you some photos but currently I’m still feeling quite embarrassed at the whole incident so you’ll just have to settle with the story.
Jet Boat
Today we had plans to go jet boating. All of us first years were all so excited because none of us had any idea what jet boating was like. In the morning during breakfast everyone was just discussing about hos fun it was gonna be. Guys kept trying to persuade girls to wear white to the avtivity (cause when you go jet boating, you get wet, and when you get wet wearing white……*grin*) So we left quite early like 11 am to go downtown sydney. Downtown sydney’s basically where all the real fun is, that’s basically where Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Mcquarie’s Chair and of course……..jet boating, heh.
So we arrived there, close to about 12,went to have some lunch first, food in the city are way more expensive. Even the Aussie studetns were quite “price concious”. Funny thing was, in the end when everyone had bought their food, I ended up as the guy buying the most expensive food. Mine was like 9.50 AUD while the others had jsut around 4 to 6 AUD worth of food that were quite nice as well.
So after lunch we set off for jet boating, Sydney was so hot that day and the sun was just so intense with no clouds around to protect you, all the Aussie ppl were taking out their sunscreens and rubbing it all over them. Only us international students were looking at them thinking……”maybe I shouldn’ve got that too……..” Australia does after all have the highest skin cancer victims. Luckily aussie ppl very generous, generous enough to share their sunscreen with like 10 international students. Hehe.
So we arrived at the jet boating stand, and everyone was so excited to get on. The boat driver told us that we were gonna get very wet and advised us to wear the raincoats provided. Being “active” students that we are…..we decided not to take them. So boat rider takes us out to the waters and accelerated like mad, everytime he’s ready to make a spin he’d raise his hands up with 1 finger out poiting in the direction that he’s gonna turn, and then 3 fingers come out, thats the signal for us to countdown.
3!2! 1! SPIN!!! and he spun the boat 270 degress around and the water jsut aplasehs all around us. this went on several times with several other stunts involved that could make us really wet. One sad thing was……with all those pimples on my face(sadly) not a really nice sensation when salt water gets to them, whole face felt so sore during the ride. But overall it was great fun! we all came out probably with at least an added 1kg of saltwater on our clothes. and the sensation was alright to be wet on such a hot weather. It only started to get weird when the sun dries you up and salt starts forming all over you, makes you feel so dirty. But again I have to emphasise to all you guys you have got to try JET BOATING!!! its definitely something you gotta do when visiting Sydney next time.
Orientation Week
Today Begins O-week which I believe is considered an Australian sort of Orientation week (I’m not sure if it runs everywhere in the world or not). The University is more or less filled with all the clubs and societies settings up their booths to attract attention.
So more or less this post is going to more or less try to give you people some interesting stuff that’s been going on. Probably going to be another long post again. Sorry.
18th Feb (Sunday):
Morning starts off quite normal as usual. More people chosen to move in today since if they had arrived any earlier like me, they’d have days and days of boredom with nothing to do at all. The seniors at Shalom College (that’s where I live) were selling out their own designed O-week T-shirts. It wrote on the whiteboard: “Come get you O-week T-shirts, only 10$”. Yeah man easy for you to say, you don’t convert your currency. In the afternoon after lunch had mini scavenger hunt to help newbie’s get familiar with the uni. Then later at night there was a hostel orientation by the CEO of the Hostel (Yea, they’ve got CEO’s too) basically introducing who’s in charge of what. After that seniors took us to school grounds to play some games. Basically the game was really that exciting, just trying to capture opponent’s flag. But since there were so many weaknesses in the rules, it was pretty much a game gone crazy.
19th Feb (Monday):
I probably should consider this on Sunday but then technically it’s on Monday. Online-ed my way till 2am with some friends back in Malaysia (thanks guys) before going to bed. Somewhere at 4am, seniors came knocking at my door like mad!!! They’ve even got their loud speakers with them shouting out “Wake up!! We’re going to Coogee!!! Woo!!” For those of you who don’t know, Coogee beach is like about 20 minutes walking distance from where we were. As seniors marched us on our way to the beach, they stopped us halfway to take a “sleepy” photo of us. Apparently they had no intention of keeping us that way. While posing for the photos, seniors dumped a bucket of water containing chicken feed, cordial rotten eggs and a whole lot of other crap which I would rather not ask to find out. Ended up walking all sticky to the beach. Guess that senior playing junior tradition still holds over here. After coming back headed immediately for the showers and went back to bed at about 7. Woke up at 8 again for breakfast and then I’m off to meet Kyloon, with a total of 3 hours sleep that day, didn’t feel so normal. But anyways today was far too important, we were going to visit Prof. Maria Skyllas-Kazacos, the lady which we learnt in chemistry who invented the Vanadium Redox Battery (Its pretty impressive work). After photos session me and Kyloon headed back to my hostel so that Kyloon can copy a few pieces of Heaven. Why I call it heaven? Heh. In general, students in hostels get their internet form the LAN port. But for each hostel there is a gateway that allows for students in the hostel to share files over the network. And I happened to come across a hostel-mate’s (the names Olly) shared folder, this guy was damn cool!!! He’s sharing over 200GB of shows man(I’m talking Futurama season 1 to 5, Heroes Season 1, Grey’s anatomy till Season 3,Desperate Housewives till Season 3……….), then Kyloon wanted to see how much the guy’s got in his music folder. I figured Kyloon’s 107GB of music would be hard to beat. Neither of us would have expected the outcome. The guy has in total, over 200GB+ of music!!! Later at dinner I asked Olly how he stored so much data. Amazingly the guy has 4 Hard disks!! Each with 320GB capacity, what’s even more amusing is that he’s initially got another 320GB hard disk with Scrubs, Ed and……….but sadly he dropped it and broke it. After dinner we played trivia!! I’ve learnt a thing of 2. Did you know that Wrigley’s chewing gum was 1 of the first items to have a barcode on it? But apparently senior bully junior fun wasn’t over, after some easy trivia, seniors made us play a game, divide into teams, and the team that finishes eating the items first gets the most points. So in the beginning we ate decent stuff like a tub of ice cream, cake….its was all pretty alright till we got full. Then they tell you there’s still more……..Oh man second round was plain torture. In particular there was this part where we had to drink a cupful of a particular item (tomato sauce, grinded mushrooms, Olive Oil…….) and then run 1 round around the giant field. Like Toot!!! I was assigned to tomato sauce. But then I played smarter lah. Luckily had a large mouth capacity, filled all the sauce in my mouth and spitted it out bit by bit on the field. It was dark mah that time, nobody would know. After that I really felt so sick I even had difficulty drinking water. Yikes.
20th February (Tuesday)
Today I woke up 1 hour earlier than I should have. Apparently someone tried to do their ironing in their room and sounded the fire alarm. Wasted everyone’s time to get out of the hostel. I think someone at administrative office probably got scolded by the fire brigade for causing false alarm as well. But since I’m up early, went to have some breakfast and then gathered with the other med students at the hostel and we went to attend med faculty welcome seminar. Pretty much quite interesting when they show us their video clips but real boring when they giving their speeches. After lunch had some little seminars about safety and Judaism (Shalom is a Jewish word, so you’d probably understand why Shalom College would have Jewish talks). Due to the med welcome, I actually missed out on the most interesting session that morning, the Drug and Sex seminar!! Darn it.
So that’s all for now. Sorry for writing so long again, but you should realize it’s a 3 days post. I didn’t want to make 3 different posts because that would make me have to move around web pages a lot and at 4 cents per MB, not really fun.
CNY Depression?
Well Here’s the start of a whole new year (in the Chinese calendar anyways) sadly enough I’m not able to spend it with family. Instead I am spending it my 4 walled hostel which is pretty damn small. Today loads of stuff were being planned for us. The college where I’m staying has practically filled the whole next week with activities. However nice the activities seem to me, I am still constantly reminded about the fact that I have hardly any friends around here at the moment, which means those activities will hardly be as entertaining as I thought. So as Kyloon suggested, while other people are busy on their scavenger hunt games looking for hidden treasure or wadever, I’ll be busy hunting for friends.
Me and Kyloon are seriously coping with the difficulties of living abroad now, I’m basically surviving every minute relying mostly on the ppl on my contact list (and I’m paying the price for it too, believe me) while kyloon is survives by playing his homestay parents new bought NintendoWii. For some reason I feel my method of survival seems much more pathetic.
Kyloon also mentioned that life probably wouldn’t be so empty if we got ourselves a girlfriend. And previous memories still haunt me warning me to take matters such as these much more seriously. Either way I suppose nature will take its course 1 way or another. Sadly to say I don’t really have much confidence in nature at this moment. As I understand it, its about survival of the fittest. One look into the my surroundings and another 100 looks around NSW, I’ve come to realize that even the thinnest of them all seemed to be much more fit than me.So…..as nature would have it……..I’m basically looking at the road to extinction, Oh pls radioactive spider if you exist somewhere out there, just com over and gimme a bite………
Anyways I was gonna upload some photos of my hostel for you guys to check out but then my parents took my camera all the wa to Adelaide and Melbourne and they’ll only be back by the end of February, together with those photos I was also gonna post up my home address, but considering the fact that its CNY now ……its more or less the Chinese year of giving (for elders) so if anyone’s ever thinking of sending an angpow over pls dun hesitate to send to:

Any amount would be greatly appreciated although I’m not sure what I can really do with 1 ringgit around here.2.70 is a good number tho, probably equivalent to about 1 aussie dollar which would be sufficient for my dry-cleaning.heh.
Ok I think I’ve written too much again so I’ll pen off here.
UNSW
Alright today is serious business. Walked about 5 minutes down the street to arrive in the northern region of UNSW. Found the medicine faculty easy enough. Guys, the place looks really nice, really wish u guys’ll come over to see it someday. Before today I always thought UNSW would be just packed with tall buildings everywhere. But after seeing it, it wasn’t that bad, there’s plenty of greenery everywhere. Best part was when I reached International Walk. The sad pat about this is there the total length of this street is probably 1kilometer or more, good part is…….well there weren’t as many stairs along the path as I thought(I thought there were almost 200,but I think its much closer to 100,whew).Thinking about walking along this path everyday for the next 6 years…….no comment.
Went over to International Student Service center to get myself reistered. Got my student ID in a flash, pretty good looking card compared to the one I got from INTI(INTI couldn’t produce ID cards this quickly either).Continued to pay my fees at the Post office(its weird that u can only pay ur fees in a post office). Then went over to open an account in commonwealth bank(6% interest and its not even FD!!!!).
Went further deep into UNSW to find my future living area, Shalom College. The people there gave me a look at my living quarters.Okay I can’t really say I’d disappointed actually, since I’ve already got my own bathroom which normally first year students would kill for. But then I felt the room was rather…..small? and the window……so small. Oh well can’t complain lah,I got my own bathroom which is more than what I can say for you IH people :p.
So everything in Sydney seems to be almost settled, all that’s left now is for me to get myself a phone number. Guys I hope you guys all registered for OPTUS like we agreed cause I already registered for OPTUS prepaid plan. You guys can reach me at 0434108028. For you guys back in Malaysia or anywhere else, I think(Again Note that I mentioned the word “think”) you need to dial +61434108028.
Okay that’ll be all for now. I’m sorry for the long essay and the few photos again. What you want lah, my storage space limited lah.
P.S. Oh yeah guys keep a look out on ur inbox next time, I might be using my UNSW e-mail account soon. I’ll announce it soon when I’ve confirmed it.
Singapore To Australia
So from the previous post u’d have realized that I left Singapore at around midnight.Flight to Sydney is abot 7 hours. This Singapore flight was really disappointing…not only did they reduced the “no smoking” and “seat belt” lights, they even removed the air conditions. I didn’t have the slightest urge to use the blankets provided to me. The were a wide variety of in flight movies(the prestige, flushed away, open season……..totalling to 80 movies!! And I haven’t even started on TV series and kid cartoons) Sadly to say, since the flight was on midnight, I got too sleepy after watching 1 Flushed Away, so just slept all the way to Sydney.
Arriving in Sydney, Customs was just about as strict as imaginable. All luggages carrying shoes had to be checked by custom officials, even the cookies and Maggie noodles need to be checked. Customs confiscated the home made pickles my aunt made for dad to bring over. Apparently you can bring pickled items over, but they have to be properly sealed, like those pickle jars find in the supermarket. In other words you can only bring pickled goods over if u bought it from shops. Well I can’t really complain much about customs since me and mum went pass with ease. Dad took all the “quarantinable” items to be checked, haha.
Came out of the airport…….rain, rain, and rain. Did you know Sydney airport is right beside the ocean? Nowonder its so wet over there. Well anyways went over the our lil Gemini hotel at Randwich area. The rest of the day was just spent exploring the true city of Sydney in Circular Quay. Since it was already quite late that time, all we really did was walk around looking at the tall buildings as all the shops are closed.
Malaysia to Singapore
Today is special enough. I’m beginning my journey to Sydney where my new school will be at. Prepared to leave Penang at about 4 something.Nice to know there were still people to send me off. Cze Yang, Kyloon, Hun Hao, Benjamin, Ding Yang and Phooi Sin came to send. Got quite a few sms from friends who couldn’t make it also.Sadly to say some frens(Hean, Kenny, Ji Zheng and Chuen Wei) made plans a little too late and missed me. Haihz that’s just sad lah.
Flight to Singapore was quick enough. Nowadays Singapore airlines becoming quite good with their in flight foods. I had this very tasty sandwich with turkey and cheese, damn tasty.
Arriving in Singapore……4 hours transit, crap man, or is it? Ran up to the internet zone for internet service. Changi airport so nice, the internet zone prepares 6 Xbox 360s for you to play all you want. There were also public PCs with webcams and mics ,but you’re only allowed to use for 15 minutes per log in. Lucky for me, had me laptop to use.Just connected the LAN port to my comp and I’m online. Had about a 3 hours conversation with some frens(mostly surprised how I got online so fast) and then with that 12 o clock approaches and my next flight to Sydney is just around the corner.
Paintball
Today we went to MSN!!No no the one u play on the internet,MSN stand for Majlis Sukan Negeri(I got it right this time right guys?).Anyways we gathered at MSN to play paintball!! Yeah its that sport where u take pellets filled with vegetable dye and pump them out of your “marker” at his pressures to inflict extreme pain on ur friends!!haha this is was gonna be so cool.
Okay so it wasn’t that cool.Turns out a bunch of ppl loved being late so everyone was standing in the sun waiting for others to arrive till about 5+.Only then were we able to get the show on the road.Had to take a short lesson with the instructor first(safety first always).Oh I never managed to tell you about the many participants we gathered for this day.Okay let’s see……
On the Guys side,we have:
Me, Wee Hean, Jia Ren, Shen Liang, Kyloon, Wei Jie, Benjamin, Hun Hao, Hung Seang, Jonathan and Ding Yang
On the Girls side, we have:
Hui Ting, Hui Hui, Bee Hooi, Ling Wei, Phooi Sin, Yi Mei, Felicia, Jamie, Sarah and this girl called Gwen I think.
So….First round!Aw man we(red team) were all chickens, couldn’t get ourselves to advance anywhere futher than 10 meters from the base.Blue team had guts tho, advanced like the wind.In minutes I found myself in a real difficult situation, I’ve got a blue team guy on my left and another right ahead.Hiding in my little bunker I ad to shoot in 2 directions.Darn the fear of being shot and bruised was so great I couldn’t bring myself to move out of that bunker so just tried to fire those 2 ppl from where I am.Even while not moving much, apparently I’ve already drained all my pellets and had to be out(yeah no melee).Got scolded by the other guys who are already out of the game saying “walau why you use bullets so fast one?crazy ar?” what u expect?it was really scary.Oh anyways red team still managed to win in the round.
Okay so second round. This time we made some plan.Guys were going to advance in pairs,I was hoping this will help keep me away from the situation in round 1.So as I moved with my partner to the nearest bunker, adrenaline suddenly rushing again. So pissed that I can’t shoot anything from where I am, advanced without even telling my buddy(sorry kyloon) and advanced to the centre of the field. There I his behind a wall exchanging fire with Hui Hui. Unfortunately as we were shooting here and there I was called out of the field. Why?well it seems while I was advancing to the center,I took a hit on the left side of my head(funny, didn’t feel much, must be the good helmet, heh),and what’s worse was I got hit by Sarah!! Aww darn .This round was even more crazy.Blue team advanced really really fast(Shen Liang,Hun Hao and Ben were like all commandos moving without care, they’re blue team by the way),took our base realy fast.
Okay so here comes third round, here’s the dangerous part, we’ve spent most of our pellets in the first 2 rounds so little pellets to spare this round, but I don’t think much of us really cared. This time Shen Liang and Hun Hao was moved to our team(even the odds lah).To stay on the safe side,I figured I’d follow commando Hun Hao’s lead. Sadly we got ourselves into more trouble.Just maybe 3 feet from the bunker where we were hiding, there was another bunker with Jia Ren and Jonathan. So me and Hun Hao kept trying to hit Jia Ren since he’d usually expose himself more.So many close shots but no cigar. Soon Jia Ren crept over to Jonathan’s side and now the problem starts.Me and Hun Hao were just stuck there.Hun Hao couldn’t even peek out without having hear a few shots fired.on the wall where he was hiding, same case for me.Tried several diversions but no use. Then during 1 attempt to peep out, got hit on the hand, again impact was felt, but luckily didn’t have any serious injury, Hun Hao got shot soon after as well. Blue Team won again.Darn Blue team could even manage to run behind Phooi Sin(Phooi Sin I seriously think if the ppl closeby weren’t shouting at you you’d be taking heavy fire dee)
Alright so 3 rounds over dee, still got really little bit of pellets left, what to do?pellets only enough for 3 vs 3.So those who still wanted to play went on.Finale round we have……
Blue Team:Wee Hean, Benjamin and Jia Ren.
Red Team: Shen Liang, Jamie and Hun Hao.
This rounds real cool.Blue team hardly moved anywhere away from their base.Red Team was advancing so quickly.Hun Hao took front line, followed by Jamie behind and Shen Liang on the right. Immediately after, Shen Liang was moving again, he was like 1quarter of the field from the base already. But like I said Blue team didn’t move far.Shen Lian came on heavy fire from 3 ppl.Gone soon. Hun Hao tried the same tactic.Failed. so what’s cool now is that Jamie(girl) has to settle 3 boys. Blue team ,feeling so confident moved without care.Jamie was hiding all the while behind a wall. Then, well…..the rest of us back outside was cheering her on,and……well also serving as her eyes and ears.Told her which direction blue team coming in.Out of my expectation, Jamie jumps out from behind the wall standing straight up firing like mad, Jia ren was just a few feet from her, fell to the ground, soon came wee hean, also gunned down(damn Jamie ur really cool) Then…..there’s still ben……where?still behind a bunker. We cheered for Jamie to run for Blue team base, Ben heard it and quickly raised up to fire Jamie, Unfortunately he missed and Jamie managed to get to the Blue team base. Red Team wins. Fair lah 2 for Blue and 2 for Red.
Okay so now games really over liao.Time for serious damage assessment, Hui Ting had a strong hit on the head, Kyloon 1 on the back, a few others suffered injuries on the arm.Few others like myself, managed to get throught without a scratch, hehe. Okay now attire damage assessment. So sad, Spent so much time kneeling behind bunkers and walls, the knee region of my jeans turned brown dee, same for most of the others also tho.
So after we left MSN, headed to Kayu eat some dinner loo, nothing really special there, roti tiga rasa was “so so” only lah, nothing too special.
Today’s conclusion? Damn I love paintball, just need to build up more courage to push forward and maybe get some target practice? Yeah probably by then paintball’d be more fun,
Oh and I know what ur thinking,I’m writing too long aren’t I? okay okay I’ll try keep it shorter next time.
Prefects gathered once again
Today was a special one enough. My old prefect buddy Edmond’s leaving on the 6th of february so I decided that since more of us(me and jia ren) will also be leaving penang soon,we should make another gathering to catch among us old buddies. So I invited all 14 prefects who were in the same form as me to a dinner in Northam’s restaurant.Few days before today i had already received confirmation of a very rare thing:full attendance!!!
By 5pm today I had already reached chuen wei’s house.Chuen wei’s house was to be the “mini” gathering point before going to the hotel.the ones that gathered at chuen wei’s house were kenny,ji zheng and myself. While in chuen wei’s place zheng was showing us his recent porn CDs again(MILF) lagi, swt!!!soon after edmond also came and joined us at chuen wei’s place.Edmond brought 2 bottles of red wine!!!Chuen wei’s mum sorta gave a big reaction seeing that so after that incident everyone was referring to the 2 bottles of wine as “mineral water”.When edmond arrived it was about close to 6 30 dee(I arranged to meet the guys there at 7)so we all moved our butts off to Northam hotel.just as we were parking met up with nai fook who has just arrived also and also met up with jia ren.Oh yea did i mention while at chuen wei’s house,a msg came through,it was chun yeong.Apparently chun yeong’s parents made some last minutes arrangements to go butterworth for dinner so he said he couldn’t come(I knew full attendance was not possible),what’s worse was when we met up with nai fook,he told us again that apparently chun chiat didn’t dare ask his dad’s permission to come to this gathering at all,so he also didn’t attend(darn those ppl if u couldn’t come in the first place just say lah).
So we moved from chatting in the parking lot of Northam to chatting more in the restaurant at Northam. The restaurant looked quite empty so I thought the food wasn’t ready yet,so we just sat there talking.Soon after ching hong and vincent also came and now there were 10 of us.Feeling quite confident after watching other ppl eating,we began to help ourselves to the food.I’m thinking many of us didn’t notice the main course trays lying just behind our table cause apparently we all spent quite a long time eating the appetizers until jia ren told us”there’s more over there”.Everyone seemed to have starved throught lunch or something. Why would I say such a thing?because whenever I came back with a “medium”plate everyone else was coming back with “large” plates, even the smaller sized ones like chuen wei were eating like machines.
Halfway through eating khai lercame bearing bad news, apparently khai loon decided to “fly kite” than to come to the dinner.so the 11 of us continued the big feasting(seriously some of them were eating like they had starved or smth).
1 Interesting matter to note was that the mussels served that night, somehow has a a particulaly bad odour when u ingest it and nobody amond us really liked it.And to think lek pin summore took like 6 of them in 1 plate,so nobody wanted to touch those mussels knowing how it tastes.Poor kenny,he had to go on being blamed for wanting the mussels(everyone just loves to blame kenny, altho we know it was lek pin’s fault). What really bothered me was that it was so difficult to tell the waters that we don’t want them anymore, felt like such a waste.Seriously speaking its not that we want to waste the food,we’d eat it if it actually tasted good, but the reality is that it sucks!!!
Either way after dinner was around 10pm.we all again moved the talking out of the restaurant and began talking in the parking lot about where we gonna find a wine bottle opener. Finally decided to try out luck see chuen wei’s house got or not.The trip from Northam to chuen wei’s house was too cool.It was like a convoy of cars(Khai Ler’s myvi,Chin Hong’s myvi,Vincent’s Saga,Lek Pin’s Honda,Kenny’s Wajar,My myvi and then Jia Ren’s Wajar),sadly Nai fook wasn’t there to see it,he had an early curfew, went home after 10.
Unfotunately halfway on the road Jia Ren got called back home dee.So the rest of us gathered at chuen wei’s apartment’s poolside. Just sat there talking and playing poker(losers drink more “mineral water”).But just after a few rounds it was cutting close to 12 and then Khai Ler andEdmond had to leave. The remaining of us started to settle with playing mahjong(Apparently Lke Pin had his mahjong set in his car, dude why in the world would there be a mahjong set in ur car?!)Anyways, played for a while only.I think all that food and the wine sorta made me a little sick or smth, didn’t feel so well so at around 12 am I took my leave.I was told Vincent also left at about 12 30.The others(Kenny,Lek Pin and Ji Zheng)drank a little too much and seeing as how their houses are far away, decided to just stay overnight at Chuen Wei’s place.
On an overall, althought we didn’t really get full attendance I am still very happy that we are able to gather together again.Really bonded quite well that night,I always felt our year’s batch of prefects really have a much stronger brotherhood compared to our seniors or our juniors. So to my Prefect buddies out there,if ur reading this,Just want you to know u guys rock!
Oh and lastly,U’ll probably notice that the time this blog was written was again not logical, yeah I wrote it late.Get use to it.
